Taking On Fear and Defeating It

Print

Everyone faces fear occasionally, but as believers, we shouldn’t confuse it with caution. Caution can move us quickly out of the path of a speeding car, or propel us to move to safety if a wild animal is charging toward us. However, in these end times, the enemy has taken fear and ratcheted it up to terrorize us. The devil is using this emotion in an attempt to destroy our faith in God’s promises; we fight back by clinging to what we already know is true about our healing and deliverance from viruses and sickness.

A Christian’s greatest fear is the fear that God’s promises won’t come to pass for them. This fear comes straight from the enemy. God hasn’t given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and a sound mind. God loves us and wants only good things for us; believing that His perfect love casts out fear enables us to assert our authority over our emotions.

The world doesn’t know that perfect health was made available to us two thousand years ago.  One of the reasons Jesus went to the cross was to defeat illness and disease; by His stripes we are healed. There’s real power in having faith in what He already did to protect and deliver us not just from sickness, but also from the fear of it.

God’s born-again children have been made righteous through faith in Jesus; those who trust in Him have been set apart from the world. This means that when everyone else is anxious and afraid of health pandemics, believers can be unafraid and at peace. God has told us not to fear or be dismayed, because He is with us. He will strengthen us, help us, and uphold us with His right hand.

Fear is simply false evidence appearing real. When we are afraid, we can trust in God. In the midst of everything, we can place ultimate confidence in the divine protection we have.

Prayer:

Lord, You’ve made many promises to us, including healing and deliverance from fear. We believe that excellent health, not harm, is Your will for us. Thank You for Your Word in this area. In Jesus’ name, amen.
