FOR THE WEEK OF June 13, 2016

The Evidence of Belief

Print

Matthew 12:34 says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The word abundance is key in this particular passage of scripture. Jesus is saying that the words we consistently speak describe what’s in our hearts. It is possible to be a Christian that has faith and doubt at the same time. One moment we might say God is good and we really believe it. However, the next moment we pray saying “Lord, I just don’t know what to do.” Then we proceed to tell God about all of our problems with a sense of hopelessness (as if our problems are larger than Him). If God is as good as many of us say He is, then we should do what the Amplified version of Hebrews 4:16 tells us and come fearlessly, confidently, and boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help, coming just when we need it.

This scripture describes the actions of a person that is a Believer and not a doubter. There is no need to fear when trouble comes. The devil is a deceitful and destructive enemy but he is no match in power for us or our God. Our faith alone in the promises of God will wipe out anything in our lives that the devil may have tried to use as a trap to destroy us. Consistently speaking what the Word says about a situation is evidence of our faith. For example, if your child is struggling to perform well in school, release your faith and speak that God will freely give him or her the wisdom needed to excel. Don’t go around bad mouthing the child and constantly speaking the problem. Trust in God! You will have what you consistently say and what you consistently say will show what you truly believe.

“Well brother Dollar, when I speak I just tell it like it is.” You can tell it like it is or you can tell it like God says it can be. Spend time in the Word this week learning more about the specific promises related to your life. Then, release your faith by consistently speaking those promises over your life. Although you may have doubt in your heart right now, begin to confess the Word of God daily over your finances, health, marriage, school, job or business, or your calling in life. It won’t be long before your heart will begin to change and unbelief will pack its bags and get out of the way. Also, you will begin to receive promptings from the Holy Spirit and He will tell you what to do or say according to what you have been speaking.

Pay attention to those promptings and follow through with obedience. Get ready to have a great week!

Prayer:

Lord, Your Word is sharper than any two edged sword and I ask that You would guide me to the specific promises in Your Word that are related to this current time in my life. I commit to speaking what You have spoken concerning every area of my life and I thank You right now knowing that when I speak Your Word, I speak truth and life and I will have whatever I consistently say in faith! It is in Your Son Jesus’ name that I pray, amen.
