Most people try to avoid adversity and suffering, but there’s a reason for everything that happens. Relying on God when trouble shows up allows Him to mature us; strengthening and preparing us for the assignment He has for us. It’s inevitable that we’ll all encounter trouble in our lives; however, nothing great ever happens without us going through a situation. Moving out of immaturity changes our thinking to the point where we no longer walk in unforgiveness or self-righteousness, or mistreat others. Christian maturity calls for a radical reorganization of our priorities, from pleasing ourselves to pleasing God. Our faith in His promises causes us to grow and develop as Christians, so that He can bless us to be a blessing to others. Embracing the painful, difficult times and not running away when we find ourselves in them brings us up to progressively higher levels so that God can use us powerfully.
