The Power of the Renewed Mind

Print
Our minds are amazingly powerful tools. What we think and believe influences the choices we make and the actions we take. Our success is directly correlated to the degree to which we change our mindset to line up with God’s Word. If we want to change for the better and see any measurable progress, letting Him renew our minds is the key.

The world strongly influences the way we think, but not for the better. Letting our environment dictate our attitudes and belief systems locks us into a cycle of failure; however, being conformed to this world isn’t God’s will for us. The way out of this trap is to allow the Holy Spirit to begin lining up our thoughts with God’s thoughts. He transforms us by the renewing of our minds, so that we’ll know God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will for us.

Real change starts from the inside and works its way out. We can try all day long to better ourselves through our own efforts, but nothing will happen if we’re stuck in the same old way of thinking. Regularly studying the Bible enables God’s Word of grace to get inside us and give us insights the world doesn’t have. Knowing the mind of the Lord so that He can instruct us gives us the mind of Christ.

Renewing our old mindsets requires trusting God in this area. We’re engaged in spiritual combat; unless we rely on Him, we’ll get trapped by our own way of thinking and our minds will play tricks on us. The weapons of our warfare aren’t carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. We must cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Him, and bring every thought into the obedience of Christ.

God wants us to succeed. This involves throwing off our old, sinful natures, letting the Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes, and putting on new, godly natures. The results will amaze us.

Prayer:

Lord, we live in a world filled with negative, ungodly attitudes and mindsets. Thank You for giving us Your Word so that we can escape the unhappy results of this way of thinking. In Jesus’ name, amen.
