World Changers Church International hosts community Back 2 School Event

School supplies, medical screenings, haircuts, activities, food and games on August 1

ATLANTA, GA—July 22, 2015 – World Changers Church International will host its annual back 2 School community event on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 9 am to 12 pm on its College Park Campus. A popular tradition in the Atlanta area for many years, the annual outreach is a partnership between Creflo Dollar Global Missions and World Changers Church International, designed to help local families get the upcoming school year off to a great start. This year’s event promises to be the biggest ever, distributing backpacks full of school supplies to area students and offering medical screenings, haircuts and hair care products, games and activities for the entire family. All activities are free of charge and open to everyone.

The back 2 School event is part of a series of community outreach events that World Changers Church International puts on each year. These include Feeding Families food distribution events around major holidays, health fairs, workshops on topics of community interest, community cleanup days and other activities designed to assist local families and empower them to live victorious lives. Pastor Ken Terry, the Director of Ministry Affairs and Outreach at WCCI, understands the importance of the church being a committed community partner. “We are always excited to serve our neighbors through programs like the back 2 School event,” says Terry. “Education plays a huge role in the success of an individual in all aspects of life, so whatever we can do to help the children in our communities excel in school, we are more than happy to do. This kind of outreach is a core element of the Culture of Care we strive for at WCCI.” Backpacks will be available for up to 2500 students on a first-come, first-served basis.

Activities for the entire family will take place all over the College Park WCCI campus. A team of barbers will provide back-to-school haircuts for boys at no charge. The Esther Project – an international women’s empowerment movement – will supply hair care products and personal care advice for young ladies. A team of doctors and medical volunteers will be on campus performing medical screenings – including hearing and vision exams – for students. Activities, ranging from a fashion show and games to face painting and bounce houses, will create a fun and informative atmosphere throughout the event. There will also be food vendors on hand offering a variety of food options for purchase. The event is open to the public and scheduled from 9 am to 12 noon.
